Citi has unveiled appointments to senior leadership posts in its banking clusters across Asia as part of its global restructuring.
Jan Metzger, former banking, capital markets and advisory head for Asia, will now lead Citi’s investment banking franchise for the Asia North & Australia and Asia South cluster.
This year Citi has raised over US$150 billion for Asian clients across equity and debt capital markets, including key initial public offerings (IPOs) for such clients as TBP, US$659 million; Cube Highways Trust, US$638 million; and Sichuan Kelun-Biotech, US$200 million.
Gunjan Kalra will continue to lead Citi’s commercial banking business for Asia North & Australia and Asia South.
Former Asia corporate banking head Kaleem Rizvi has been appointed corporate bank head for Asia North & Australia while K Balasubramanian has been named head of corporate banking for Asia South.
In the memo announcing the changes, banking head Peter Babej and international head Ernesto Torres Cantú say: “We have already begun to feel the positive momentum across our franchise. We recently served as lead advisor on the largest announced M&A deal this year. Our pipeline remains strong, and we expect activity to consistently pick up across M&A and capital markets.
“Looking beyond episodic activity, our corporate bank is driving integrated client delivery in a challenging macro environment – and with it long-term relationship revenue – while the commercial bank is continuing its strong momentum and embedding profitable growth for our broader franchise.”
