Mirae Asset launches global AI infrastructure ETF
Fund offers active, passive strategies, focuses on critical areas, including data centres, energy
The Asset   10 Feb 2025

Asset manager Mirae Asset Global Investments ( Mirae Asset ) has launched its new Global X AI Infrastructure ETF, which has begun trading on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and offers investors targeted exposure to companies driving the development of artificial ( AI ) infrastructure, providing a unique opportunity to capitalize on the sector’s growth potential.

The rapid advancement of AI, Mirae Asset notes, is driving the industry into a new era, with growing emphasis on the infrastructure needed to support its expansion. Key areas include data centres and the energy systems needed to power them – critical components forming the backbone of AI innovation.

The number of public data centres globally, according to ABI Research, is projected to surpass 6,000 by the end of 2025 and exceed 8,000 by 2030.

Additionally, the US government recently announced the Stargate Project, a US$500 billion initiative aimed at accelerating AI infrastructure development in the United States. As a result, AI infrastructure remains, the asset manager says, a key growth story within the broader AI industry.

AI infrastructure relies on multiple interconnected systems, including energy supply, thermal management and network operations. The exchange-traded fund ( ETF ) focuses on companies supporting energy infrastructure, data centre operations and raw material sourcing. Through a single trade, the fund enables investors to access diverse segments of AI infrastructure, positioning them to benefit from the sector’s rapid growth and innovation.

The fund tracks the Mirae Asset AI Infrastructure V2 Index. With this new ETF, the asset manager now offers a total of 36 ETFs listed in Hong Kong, including six AI-themed ones, spanning a diverse array of investment capabilities from thematic growth, income, core to commodities.
