Singapore’s Trust Bank is expanding its investment offering, TrustInvest, with the upcoming launch of a trading platform for US stocks and exchange-traded funds ( ETFs ), including the ability to trade fractional shares.
The digital-only bank, a joint venture between Standard Chartered Bank and NTUC Enterprise, becomes the first banking app in Singapore to offer fractional trading, broadening access to global equities for a wider segment of investors.
Built directly into the existing Trust App, the new trading capability will allow users to buy and sell US-listed stocks and ETFs, without the need to switch platforms or transfer funds externally. This integrated model is designed to simplify the investment experience for both new and seasoned investors.
Fractional trading is a core feature of the new platform. By allowing users to purchase portions of high-priced stocks, such as Meta or Netflix, which trade for over S$900-1,500 ( US$700-1,200 ) per share, Trust is aiming to lower the barrier to entry and promote portfolio diversification.
“Following the success of our initial TrustInvest launch, we are excited to expand our offering so that customers can trade US stocks and ETFs,” says Trust Bank chief executive officer Dwaipayan Sadhu. “Offering fractional trading means that all our customers can access a wide range of investments, with the confidence of doing so through an easy-to-use and seamless banking app.”
The platform will include access to popular ETFs that span index trackers, sector-focused funds, and digital asset-linked products, appealing to investors seeking exposure to diversified instruments through a single trade.
Trust Bank, launched in September 2022, has gained traction in Singapore’s digital banking landscape, onboarding over 1 million customers by August 2024. This latest investment service expansion underscores its ambition to become a full-spectrum digital financial platform, blending banking, rewards, and wealth management in a unified mobile experience.
The waitlist for the new trading platform is now open, with eligible customers to be invited to open trading accounts over the coming weeks.
